Angelique and I both thought that a Seppuku pose would be a fitting end to our assassin night.

Here's some drawings from last night's Go Figure of Angelique, who did an assassin theme with some of my martial arts weapons. The first 2 are 1 minute drawings, then a 5, 10 and 15 if I remember correctly. She got into some good poses thanks to her martial arts background. It was a lot of fun.

The Twisted Return of Sheila

Here's Sheila from last night's "GO FIGURE". How can she twist her body so? She's double-jointed- that's how. I'm not exaggerating that middle drawing- she was really twisting like that. It was great to have her there-and our huge crowd of drawers agreed.

Naomi @ Go Figure

Here's a few drawings of Naomi from tonight's Go Figure. She was really great- dynamic quick poses and some new longer poses. She even brought her own stool (the thing you sit on).
Each of these drawings have a different approach.

Amber Ray @ Go Figure

Here's Amber Ray from tonight's Go Figure; she was really great; she came in costume from a previous gig and was wearing a big blue wig, blue eye shadow and lots of presence. We'll definitely have her back.

Cassandra back @ Go Figure

Here's a few drawings from the great Cassandra from last night's Go Figure. She was great as usual and I found out she likes David Lynch and Tom Waits, so now I like her even more.

Ron Mueck at the Brooklyn Museum

This is a sculpture from Ron Mueck called "Big Man" from his show at the Brooklyn Museum. You really have to see this in person to get an idea of how impressive it is.
It was about 7 or 8 feet tall and incredibly life-like. His pieces have great expressions on them as if they're aware that they're naked in a Museum and people are staring at them.
They had a short film on his process showing there, and it showed him sculpting in clay, making a cast, filling it with silicone and fiberglass and other materials, painting it, adding texture, and putting in hairs one at a time.

This is Kayla from last night's Go Figure session. Luckily she came in last minute after the other model cancelled.
With these drawings, I did a loose under-drawing with charcoal on a blending stump, and then went back into it with a black colored pencil in the first 2 drawings, and a regular charcoal pencil in the last 2 drawings.

Tai Chi Chuan

This is the Tai Chi Chuan class going through Cheng Man Ching's short form at the Jewish Community Center on New Year's Day for a demonstration. That's me thinking- "thank God I didn't stay out too late on New Year's Eve"...

Zhang Ziyi

Here's the Zhang Ziyi painting finally- I just got the photo on a disc from my friend, Alex today.
Thanks, Alex, for helping me out with this.
This is an oil painting on wood which is dimensional- the parts that come out from the surface of the wood are the nose, her cheek-bone, her lips, her arm, some of her hair, and the sword(the Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon-her break through role).
It's better to see this in person, so go down to "Faces and Names" at 159 W.54th St. between 6th & 7th Ave. and take a look. Hopefully there will be a light on it, but I just hung it yesterday, so probably not for a while.

A complete head-game

This is a better photo of one of the paintings I had in the "Velaine" show last year. I'd like to hear any of my many blog viewers opinions as to the meaning of this painting. There's no right or wrong answer although I had something specific in mind that probably only pertains to me....but maybe not.

These are some of the sketches that I have done on the Subway at different times. It's not always easy to draw people there- you either have to get somebody sleeping, reading, or in profile, and you usually don't have a lot of time. The second one is what I imagine people are thinking on the train(not really). If any of these are you, please accept my apologies, or if you want the drawing, let me know. There are more to come...

Another ball-point pen sketch from my sketchbook. I hope Blogspot doesn't have a problem with this "lewd" sketch depicting our friendly neighborhood policeman in a negative light... We'll see.

Joseph @ Go Figure

Here's Joseph from last night's "Go Figure". He surprised everyone when he first started with some really interesting poses and facial expressions. He did a pose laughing on his cell phone, drinking from a bottle of water, and giving the finger with a really angry face. The first drawing is a 2 min., then a 10, then a 40 min. pose. He was a good model.
