Subway series

These are some of the sketches that I have done on the Subway at different times. It's not always easy to draw people there- you either have to get somebody sleeping, reading, or in profile, and you usually don't have a lot of time. The second one is what I imagine people are thinking on the train(not really). If any of these are you, please accept my apologies, or if you want the drawing, let me know. There are more to come...

Hard

Another ball-point pen sketch from my sketchbook. I hope Blogspot doesn't have a problem with this "lewd" sketch depicting our friendly neighborhood policeman in a negative light... We'll see.

Joseph @ Go Figure

Here's Joseph from last night's "Go Figure". He surprised everyone when he first started with some really interesting poses and facial expressions. He did a pose laughing on his cell phone, drinking from a bottle of water, and giving the finger with a really angry face. The first drawing is a 2 min., then a 10, then a 40 min. pose. He was a good model.

The Wave of the Crutch

I've been neglecting to post anything new from my sketchbook, so here's one that's fairly recent.

Here's the fun model- Amy Ouzoonian in a meditative pose.

Another side of Jill Bell

Here's another Jill Bell drawing per Justin's request

Jill Bell @ Go Figure

This is a caricature I did of our model- Jill last night at "Go Figure". She had an interesting look.

I'll be collecting artwork tomorrow(Wed.) for the benefit show for "Satchmos" on Thursday evening. The show will feature original artwork-much of it created at "Go Figure", with all proceeds going towards Satchmos, so they can stay open. It's at 347 Graham Ave. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. L train to Graham Ave. 1/2 block down on the left, if you're walking down the hill on Graham. It's from 7-11 on Thursday. Come on down!

Laura Hughes @ Go Figure

Here's Laura Hughes from last night's Go Figure. We didn't have as good of a turnout as usual, but we still had enough people, and Laura was a cool model. This was a 25 minute pose- done with a brown colored pencil.

Carla @ Go Figure

This is Carla from last night's Go Figure. She had an interesting face- she looked confused, angry, disturbed, and happy all in the same pose. She kept changing her expression, but it was interesting to draw.

Zhang Ziyi

These are two preliminary sketches of Zhang Ziyi for a painting commission I'm doing for "Faces and Names". I e-mailed them the sketches and they liked the second one better- so that's the one I'm doing. When will it be done? That's the question. Hopefully before the end of the month so I can pay the rent. It's going to be a dimensional oil painting - 14" x 17". I'll post it when I'm done.

The Return of Lady J to Go Figure

Last night Lady J made her triumphant return to "Go Figure" as an evil Annette Funicello. We started out with surf music (Dick Dale, etc.) but then moved on to some David Lynch soundtracks to darken the mood. She was great as usual with an overwhelming presence and emotion.
This drawing was done with a Derwent black colored pencil.

LARVA @ GO FIGURE

Here's some drawings of Larva from last night's "Go Figure" sessions. She was an amazing model, and interestingly, Cassandra's roommate, which I didn't know until the end of the night. She lives in LA most of the time, so we'll have to wait until next Spring to see her again.

Sheila @ GO FIGURE

This is one of the experienced Sheila from "Go Figure- 7". I was having an off night in general, but this one came out okay. I think eventually we are going to have a show at Satchmos of the regulars that come to Go Figure.

One more of Cassandra

See below...

Go Figure- Cassandra

This past Go Figure session featured Cassandra as our model, and she was amazing; definitely one of the best- she had a classic look (reminded me of a "Klimt" model), got into interesting poses, and held them very well. We were lucky to have her.

The Day the Music.....died

October 15th marked the last day of CBGB's- the birthplace of Punk Rock in America. It was sad, but a fun night; I snapped this pic of Tina Weymouth when she was up on a chair taking a pic of Hilly- the owner. I did a number of loose drawings, had a shot of whiskey, and met a few people, as well as meeting up with Pete Luna.
I'll never forget playing there with "the Lunch" back in 1989- driving down from Providence- skipping part of my animation class, getting lost, final getting to play late, and driving all the way back at 4 AM. It was a lot of fun. We played once more in 1992 before we disbanded. I'll never forget it.

Lady J @ "Go Figure"

Last Monday night was the first "Go Figure" session (figure drawing), and we we're graced by the presence of the infamous "Lady J". Here are a few pics and drawings from that night. Hopefully in the future I'll get some drawings from other people, but for right now, I only have a couple that I did.
"GO FIGURE" is every Monday night at "Satchmos"- located at 347 Graham Ave. in Williamsburg, from 7-10 PM and it costs $10.

Fox- Rest In Peace

Fox didn't make it; she started getting worse and had to be put to sleep today. She was just in too much pain. It's sad that her life had to end so soon- she was only about 6 years old.
At least she had some interesting experiences when she was alive- such as going cross-country with Peter's sister for 3 months. These are some of the photos from that journey: sniffing some cows in South Dakota, posing in front of the Nevada sign with a UFO in the background, feeling the breeze in "confusion range" in Utah, and finally making it to the Pacific Ocean.
The last one is one that I shot while she was lounging on the couch she loved.
I will miss her.

Pray for the Fox

This is "Fox" or "Foxy"- the dog that I co-owned with Peter Griffin when we lived in a big loft a few years ago. I lived with her for about 3 years with the rest of the roommates. Since we moved out of there, Fox went to live with Peter and Elizabeth (his wife), and I got visitation rights every now and then.
Unfortunately, Fox is now at the Vet Hospital in Brooklyn for Pancreatitus; her pancreas is not working as it's supposed to, and she can't digest her food. So she's been on an I.V. and at this point, not doing too well. She's been there about a week now. Hopefully she'll pull through.

The rest of the Profile Theatre Project playwrights

For Harold Pinter and Wendy Wasserstein I used a photo- the other ones I met at their apartments in the city.
