Laurence Fishburne sketches

These are two of four sketches of Laurence Fishburne for my new commissioned painting for "Rumours" located at 55th & 8th ave. Appatently he frequents the place a lot, so they wanted one of him to hang on the walls.

WOW!

these are great! you captured his likeness really well in both i think, but if i had to choose i think i like the bottom one better.

although the gap tooth's funny and a dead giveaway for his likeness!

Thanks, Jason- I appreciate it. I'm still not 100%, but I'm leaning towards the first one mainly because of the teeth and the expression.

I like the top one..wow! That ones awesome. The other one is nice, but I prefer the top - I think it smacks you in the face more.

Thanks for your input. I've asked a few people now, and it's actually split. Last night I asked Lady J, and she liked the bottom one, and Mike (the co-owner of Faces and Names and Rumours, and who the painting is for) also liked the second one- although I'm not sure he fully understands caricature- by the hesitant look on his face. That's not a put-down; some people are just not as visually oriented.
Personally, I gravitate towards the top one as well, because I like the expression and I always like to do the teeth- because teeth are generally very unique with each individual- and especially true in Laurence's case. So, I'm still undecided. But I have to pick soon...
