This is the Samuel L. Jackson painting I did for Faces and Names (159 w. 54th St.) last Fall. I just got a good print from "Baboo" which is my new photo and printing place. No more Duggal- they're much too expensive and didn't give me what I wanted last time.
This is oil on wood and I think it's 3' x 4'.
He's one of my favorite actors; I hope he can come in and see it...

No, this is flat. Also, I used oil and acrylic on this one.
why the choice of using the two mediums?
Acrylic is faster, obviously, and I wanted to lay down an underpainting in acrylic to help speed things along.
Eventually, I think I'm going to switch over to acrylics entirely for health reasons. I bought a big, tupeware container yesterday to store the acrylic pallete to keep it from drying out. That's key.
Cool. Yeh, those oil fumes and related products can be deadly.

I saw a pallette for acrylics that has foam on a plastic tray with a disposable paper pallette on top of it. You squirt some water into the foam and it keeps the acrylics from getting dry. They get a skin on top, but for the most part stay wet all day.

I've been using a metal tray lately- with retarder and water in a spray bottle to keep it moist. I also still have the tupperware container to really prevent it from drying out.
