This is the new stuff
This is the initial sketch of the 2 dogs that will be in the commissioned painting for the Fishs' of Houston, Texas. There are 5 other family members(human), but I thought I'd post the dogs cause they're harder to caricature, and I don't know if the Fishs want me to post theirs. The trouble with caricaturing a dog is that if you go too far, it might look like another breed.

Hey, great drawings, though I'm only seeing soem caricature in the top dog (no pun intended)...the bottom one has the big eyes, but it still looks more like a traditional 'portrait' drawing. Sweet renderings.
I know what you're saying- you have to see the photos to see the caricature that's going on. Like I said, it's hard to caricature a dog unless I start simplifying things, but that's not the type of caricature I usually do with the caricature-paintings. If I tried to mix it up, my customer might not get what he wants- he saw my other work at Faces and Names and expects a certain look for his painting. I'll try to post the photos of the dogs...
Yeh, it'd be cool to see the photos alongside the drawings to see where you exaggerated/deviated.
Cool on the pics, Dan..musta been tough drawing the beagle, turning your neck to see him..
Yeah, that was tough....
I'm not one to talk, but your post, should now read 'this is the not-so-new-stuff'...we want some new stuff..or even sold old stuff we haven't seen posted yet! (I know you've got lots of great drawings in your sketchbooks yet to be seen).
What was that? You're not one to talk?
Anyway, I'll post some new stuff soon, or stuff you haven't seen at least. Keep checking.
I meant that I hadn't posted anything new in a couple of weeks myself, but I made good on that tonite!
Will look forward to the 'new stuff'.
Hey Rob,
Good to see you in the blog world. I didn't know you were on here.
