24 hour comic day is when you stay up for 24 hours in a row and draw one page an hour until you have a finished comic at the end. It's usually done spontaneously- with no preconceived ideas. It was started by Scott McCleod- a comic book artist who does it every year.
Anyway, Cam Chesney and I did the 24 hour comic day from Friday-5/12 at midnight to Saturday- 5/13 at midnight- very exhausting and hard work, but well worth it. I took a nap for 2 hours on Friday afternoon to help with the future lack of sleep, but once it got to about 2 in the morning, I was already tired. I already had one coffee earlier, so now I switched to a Red Bull- that helped me plow through till morning. The morning light, even if it's gray, always helps with staying up. It also helps a lot to have someone else in the next room working on the same thing- thanks, Cam.
I wasn't sure where my story was going at first, but the ideas come within the process of drawing. It's funny, but I don't think I would have gotten 24 pages of a comic done even in a year, but doing it in this way forces you to get it done, and as exhausting as it is, it's really rewarding.
I'll be posting what I've done when I get it all scanned in- it might take some time...

Yeah Dan, thanks for battling the clock with me too. I won't be keen on doing it again any time soon --- Its exhausting, but it was very rewarding. Glad to have survived it... cheers
Cheers. It's nice to know that it's possible at least, and I think I'd like to do it once a year if I get somebody to do it with...
The idea of doing a comic is not as daunting as it used to be.
Now we'll be eagerly anticapating your next comic project, one which you'll have all the time you need to work on, if you so wish!
Yes, easier said than done...
My friend Alec does a 24 hour comic once a year every January I believe. So he's got a good 4 or 5 under his belt. I'm really trying to spend time with the stuff in which I don't have to worry about "how much can I get done in an hour?" But given some time, maybe I'll want to do another...
